Turks and Caicos - Beaches Resort & Airbnb // Food Allergies // Mostly Plant-Based Allergen-Friendly - Our trip to Turks and Caicos was fabulous! It was our 3rd time on the island and the second time at the Beaches Resort in Grace Bay and our second time renting an Airbnb home. #freshisreal #foodallergies #foodsensitivites #turksandcaicos #beachesresort #airbnb #providenciales #beachesturksandcaicos
Travelling with food allergies is easier when you can pack a lot of your safe snacks and prepare some food for your flight. Always bring more than you need, especially with kids. We often have a carry on with only snacks, and everyone's personal bag also includes one meal and snacks.
Drinking water is always essential. Bring a water bottle. Fill it once you've passed security and you can also buy bottled water as well.
Once you get to the resort, having a room with a fridge is the best way to go to keep your drinks and snacks cold while on vacation.
Renting an Airbnb home makes cooking a breeze. The grocery store in the tourist area of the island has lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and allergen-friendly products. Always ask questions and read labels before consuming anything.
There are many restaurants in the tourist area, BUT then you have to ask so many more questions when eating out with food sensitivities or allergies.
The resort consists of a few villages with many buffets and à la carte style restaurants. Again, ask lots of questions when you're not sure. At the resort, visit the concierge service to go over your dietary preferences. In my opinion, nothing is ever 100 percent safe, so always have your Epipens and medicine on hand. Bring a cooler bag to keep everything cool during the day when you're at the pool.
For lunch, familiarize yourself with your family's best eating options so you can be close when hunger strikes! Most kids don't want to get out of the pools while on vacation, but a little sun break is always good!
At breakfast grab extra fruit for yourself and your kids for quick, healthy snacks. TIP: Having plastic food bags or containers with your makes carrying food around a lot easier.
Last but not least, you know your dietary restrictions well, and your family's, so when booking a trip always do your research!
If you have any questions, or if I left anything out, please let me know in the comments! Chantal
